The little community of Monteverde is famous for it Biological Reserve “Bosque Nuboso de Monteverde” (Monte Verde Cloud Forest). This small community is found adjacent to the Monteverde cloud forest and was founded by the Quakers that migrated from North America to Costa Rica in 1950.
Monteverde is a destination for nature lovers. Monteverde has unique characteristics for bird watching. Among the things that distinguish it is the quetzal, but not to leave behind hundred of species that can be admired in these forests.
Monteverde offers a variety of options in adventure sports. Taking advantage of the extensive forest and its high trees, there are 3 adventure parks in the Monteverde community that have activities such as the canopy, hiking trails, hanging bridges, butterfly gardens, four wheelers, horses, etc. |
In addition to visit the Monteverde Reserve, you can visit the Santa Elena Reserve. This reserve is administrated y the local high school. They preserve an important area of the cloud forest where it is common to observe birds of the area.
You can visit Monteverde in a day from the Arenal Volcano. The Arenal Springs Resort Hotel offers excursions every day leaving the hotel at 7:15am and returning to the hotel at 6:30pm. |
